WVU Wins! |

ucla_win.jpg

Well WVU did it again. We knocked off UCLA. This is the the 2nd time in a row. UCLA came into the coliseum yesterday ranked #2 in the country. This was the 4th time WVU and UCLA has played. WVU leads the series 3-1. I have a feeling we won’t be playing UCLA again anytime soon.

Anyway, In the above picture can you find the hidden Mountaineer? I’ll give you a clue. Joe Mazzulla is in there some where.

ATHF and Boston |

By now I’m sure all of you have heard about the viral marketing campaign the TV show Aqua Teen Hunger Force (ATHF) did in Boston this week. If not, here’s a link to a news story about it: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16902707/

The creators of the show and the ones behind the “scare” in Boston decided to hold a press conference after they were released. It is one of the funniest press conferences I have ever seen. Thanks to the internet, and youtube, I can share it with all of you. Enjoy.

612 lbs |

Good Eatin'

The Michigan football team went Lawry’s Restaurant in Beverly Hills last night. They managed to eat 612 lbs of beef! Even there 215 lb kicker ate 3 lbs of prime rib. Apparently this is a tradition for the Rose Bowl. The 2 teams get to go to this restaurant and eat as much as they can. It is called the “Beef Bowl.” History has shown that the team that eats the most wins the Rose Bowl 70% of the time.

USC gets there shot at the “Beef Bowl” tonight. I think Michigan has set the bar high.

Here’s the story from the Detroit Free Press

I’m Back |

Let me wipe off the spider webs and see if this old blog still posts. I don’t really have a good reason for not posting. Every time I would think of posting I thought, “I’ll do that tomorrow.”

So what have I been doing?

In November Treah and I took a trip to Denver. I spent the week in AIX training, Treah spent the week site seeing. We also saw my brother (Ryan) and his girlfriend (Jes) when we were out there. The next week we went to Vermont to see my parents for Thanksgiving. Ryan and Jes rode back from VT with us and went to a WVU football game.

In December I finally graduated from the Software Engineering Master’s program. My parents and grandparents drove in from Vermont, my brother flew in from Denver, and Treah’s parents drove up from Beckley, all to watch the ceremony. The funny thing about December graduation at WVU, is that it takes place before the end of the semester. So even though I was pretty confident I had the grades to graduate, I didn’t know for sure. Anyway, here’s a picture of me and President Hardesty at graduation.

Later in the month we had Christmas with Treah’s parents. We spent most of our time in Beckley, but spent Christmas Day in Charleston at her grandfather’s house.

Now I’m stuck in the 3 day work week between the end of Christmas break and New Years. I’m hoping most of our troublesome users are out of work this week!

Mix in work, a couple days of school, football, basketball, a broken laptop battery, and you’ve basically got my life since my last post. I’ll try to do a better job keeping up.

Time for Basketball |

WVU’s first regular season men’s basketball game is tomorrow. There are a lot of new faces in this year’s line up. 9 new guys, 8 of them are freshman.

To help everyone out I ripped this basketball preview from last week’s Mountaineer Magazine. It does a good job introducing the new faces.

Look for Joe Alexander to be our stand out player this year. In last week’s exhibition, he led the team with 17 points, hit 3 of 6 three pointers, 4 defensive rebounds, and 3 offensive rebounds. Not bad for his 1st collegiate start.
